PersonnelDarius Toraby, R.A., PresidentDarius Toraby is a registered architect in the states of New York, New Jersey, and Connecticut. As president of the firm, Mr. Toraby is responsible for all aspects of our projects-design, administration, inspection, specifications, cost estimating, and contract negotiation. Over the past twenty years he has steered the firm's work toward the specialty areas of restoration and waterproofing while maintaining our reputation for traditionally designed private residences. Before joining the firm, Mr. Toraby was involved with the design of private houses, multi-family residential projects, development of commercial and office buildings, urban design, site development and public works projects. In addition to his twenty five years in the field of architecture, Mr. Toraby's educational background in engineering brings a thorough understanding of the technical concerns relevant to the projects undertaken by the firm. Mr. Toraby received his Masters of Architecture from Yale University and his Bachelor of Architectural Engineering, with distinction, from the American University of Beirut. Joseph M. Garcia, R.A., AssociateMr. Garcia is a registered architect in both New York and Connecticut, and has a Professional Engineering license in New York. As an associate in the firm, he provides expertise throughout the life of a project, from initial conceptual design, which he develops while working closely with the client, to design presentations using multi-media visual materials, design development and construction supervision. He has a keen eye for interior and exterior detailing, especially that which relates to historic preservation and restoration. Mr. Garcia's engineering background is invaluable in providing the ability to plan creatively, while maintaining a balance with structural and budgetary limitations. With over twenty years of experience, Mr. Garcia has designed several commercial and corporate office buildings along the East Coast, including the Chemical Bank Headquarters Atrium in New York City, and Pace University's Law Library in White Plains, New York. His residential work includes several traditional private homes, the largest being a $2.5 million interior and exterior renovation to an existing residence in Old Westbury, Long Island. Mr. Garcia began his architectural studies at the Monterrey Institute of Technology in Mexico, having received a U.S. Dept. of State Scholarship, and completed his education at Yale University where he received his Master of Architecture degree. He also holds a Bachelor of Civil Engineering from New York University. Principals | Architects | Engineers | Design & Drafting Michael Granville, R.A., Senior Project ArchitectMr. Granville is a registered architect in the State of New York. Mr. Granville's background includes design and project management of restoration, renovation and alteration projects for all building types, including residential, educational, institutional and commercial. Over the past seven (7) years at Darius Toraby Architects, P.C., Mr. Granville has demonstrated the ability to meet all design and project objectives, including zoning and code requirements. Mr. Granville's current projects include comprehensive exterior restoration programs at 1 Lexington Avenue, 24 Gramercy Park South and 10 Gracie Square in New York City, as well as interior renovation and modernization of the "Tin House" EMS Station in Brooklyn. Mr. Granville's prior experience includes the design of ADA compliant academic and institutional buildings including classroom, auditorium, library and faculty/visitor housing facilities for the Darden School of Business, University of Virginia, and access ramps for pool, playground and locker areas at the Kiawah Island Beach Club, Kiawah Island, NC. Mr. Granville's thirteen years experience as a contractor and cabinetmaker has enhanced his contract document and project management skills for all his projects. His natural communications and interpersonal abilities allow him to relate well and work closely with all clients and staff. Mr. Granville received his Master of Architecture and Bachelor of Arts degrees from Columbia University, New York City. J. Claudio Prego, Project ArchitectJ. Claudio Prego is an architect with over nineteen years of experience in the design and construction of single and multi-family residences. As a project architect at Darius Toraby Architects, P.C., Mr. Prego has worked on a variety of residential projects involving alterations, additions, as well as interior and exterior renovation and rehabilitation. Mr. Prego has most recently been involved in the survey and documentation of existing conditions at over 40 firehouses for the Fire Department of the City of New York as well as the preparation of construction drawings for the replacement of 22 existing entrances at Morris Heights Rehabs, West Tremont I, II & III, and Melrose Houses for the New York City Housing Authority. Mr. Prego's responsibilities included site inspections, measurements and verification of existing conditions. Throughout his career, Mr. Prego's has demonstrated the ability to complete projects on time and within budget. Working with the world renowned architect Oscar Niemeyer in Brazil, he was involved in the design of numerous private residences, commercial complexes and interior design projects for residential, institutional and commercial buildings. Mr. Prego received his Bachelor of Science degree in Architecture from Gama Filho University, Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. Principals | Architects | Engineers | Design & Drafting Dorinel Oanca, P.E., Mechanical EngineerDorinel Oanca is a licensed professional engineer in the States of New York and New Jersey. At Darius Toraby Architects, P.C., Mr. Oanca specializes in mechanical, plumbing and HVAC related tasks for the firm's projects. Mr. Oanca has over 23 years of experience in design for heating, ventilation, air conditioning and refrigeration systems for residential, institutional, commercial, recreational and industrial buildings. Mr. Oanca is well versed in both design and construction administration. Mr. Oanca's expertise includes design, inspections, installation and operation qualification protocols for cGMP facilities. His project experience includes variable air volume systems, industrial ventilation, fume hood exhausts, chilled water and hot water systems, steam and condensate boilers, high pressure ductwork, dust collection, scrubbers, natural gas, refrigeration and automatic temperature controls. Mr. Oanca received his Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering from Galati Polytechnic Institute in Bucharest, Romania. He is also a member of the American Society of Heating, Refrigerating and Air-conditioning Engineers. Rodica Oanca, Electrical EngineerRodica Oanca is an electrical engineer with over 28 years of experience in engineering and design of electrical power systems for all building types, including residential, commercial, institutional and industrial. Mrs. Oanca also has extensive experience in project management, optimization studies and management of environmental programs. Mrs. Oanca's recent experience includes Electrical Engineer with the Army Research and Development Center in charge of design of power supplies for computers, high voltage transmission lines and emergency power systems. Mrs. Oanca's project experience includes preparation of construction specifications, cost estimates and budget estimates. Mrs. Oanca has also been responsible for the design of power distribution systems for numerous residential, commercial, municipal, medical and industrial facilities. Mrs. Oanca received her Masters Degree in Electrical Engineering from the Polytechnical Institute in Bucharest, Romania. Malcolm Graff, P.E., Structural EngineerMalcolm Graff is a licensed engineer in the States of New York, New Jersey, Connecticut and Massachusetts. Mr. Graff's 28 years of engineering experience allows him to provide a broad range of professional engineering services, including structural design for all building types, including residential, institutional, commercial and industrial. Mr. Graff also provides inspections, feasibility studies and evaluations of existing structures for major restoration and alteration works. Mr. Graff is familiar with design, specifications and inspections of all building types and structures, including concrete, steel, timber and wood frame. Mr. Graff received his Master's in Structural Engineering from the University of Connecticut and Bachelor of Civil Engineering from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute in Troy, New York. Ms. Yoslow's recent projects include finishes and furnishings for the Griffith Residence in Dallas, Texas, the interior design of the Remco Maintenance Offices in New York City, and the Marlowe Residence in Water Mill, New York. Ms. Yoslow is a graduate of the Parsons School of Design, New York City, with a degree in Interior Design, and has studied with Parsons in Europe. In addition to her interior design studies, Ms. Yoslow has a Masters Degree in Fine Arts. Juergen C. Stuecklen, DraftsmanMr. Stuecklen has more than nine years of professional design experience encompassing all phases of design utilizing AutoCad or board.
